Security Alert – The Risk of Using Windows Vista

Microsoft Vista End of Support Security VulnerabilityAfter April 11, 2017 Microsoft will no longer support Windows Vista.

At North American Computer we feel it is important for everyone to know the serious security risk you may face by running Windows Vista on your PC or notebook after April 11th, 2017.

Microsoft has provided support for Windows Vista for 10 years, but with the end of support for Windows Vista nearing it is important for you to take the right steps to protect your data and your computer.

What does end of support for Windows Vista mean?

Computer hackers work non-stop to find ways of penetrating the Windows operating system so they can steal sensitive data, including banking and credit card information.  Every day hackers find vulnerabilities and potentially gain access to the private data on computers throughout the world.  As part of their support services, Microsoft releases weekly “security updates” for all their Windows operating systems to prevent hackers from accessing personal data.

These security updates (“plugs”) are developed by Microsoft engineers to fill voids (“holes”) in Windows’ operating systems that have been breached by hackers.  These updates plug the holes and prevent hackers from accessing both your operating system and your private data. However, once Microsoft no longer supports an operating system, the holes will not be plugged and hackers will potentially have access to all of the data on your computer.

Will my security software protect my Windows Vista machine After April 11th?

The answer is no.

Although security programs like Norton, Kaspersky, and AVG protect your computer against infection from malicious software, viruses, and malware, they do not protect the operating system completely – this is done by Microsoft.

Operating systems that are no longer supported by Microsoft are NOT protected simply because third party security software is running on the machine. Security software manufacturers do not protect unsupported operating systems.

Will my Windows Vista machine still work?

If you continue to use Windows Vista after support ends, your computer will still work.  However, it will become extremely vulnerable to malicious software, viruses, malware and hackers!

Additionally, software and hardware manufacturers only support recent versions of Windows operating systems, such as Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10,   so other vulnerability issues will arise.

Windows Vista is insecure, unsafe, and needs to be replaced before it’s too late!

Let North American Computer help you obtain the Windows 10 operating system and keep your PC or Notebook secure.
